A forum for professors and staff from all faculties to discuss external funding strategies, research collaborations, and the translation of excellent research into practical applications and impact.
Visible Impact, Stronger Research
The Research Impact Forum brings together researchers from the University of Rostock and its partners. It demonstrates how excellent research translates into impact: in the funding landscape, in collaboration with industry and society, and in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region.
The forum focuses on two key areas. First, to highlight the opportunities the university and its network already offer today to increase the impact of existing research. Second, to highlight which partners will support future research projects, from the initial grant proposal idea through to concrete implementation.
The focus is on three questions: How can external funding be strategically secured and increased? How can sustainable research collaborations be established? And how does excellent research find its way into practical application?

Part of Research Impact Day 2026
On November 4, everything at the University of Rostock will revolve around the question of what becomes of cutting-edge research: how results translate into impact through collaborations with industry and society, on the path to practical application, and in new external funding that enables the next phase of research.
Several events will take place throughout the day: the academic Research Impact Forum, the Startup Alumni Day, and the IT TechTable under the title “SMEs Meet Science.” In the evening, MVpreneur Day at the TDF will bring all these threads together with pitches and networking.
During the day, the University of Rostock opens the doors of its main building and invites you to its auditorium, the festive heart of one of the city’s most historic buildings. In the evening, the event continues at the TDF, just a few minutes’ walk away.
During the day: University of Rostock, auditorium in the main building
Universitätsplatz 1, 18055 Rostock
In the evening: TDF, Theater des Friedens
Doberaner Straße 5, 18057 Rostock (a short walk from the auditorium, approx. 10–12 min.). More about the evening program: www.uicampus.de/mvp
The Research Impact Forum is being initiated by Dr. Sybille Bachmann, Vice Rector for International Affairs, Knowledge Transfer, and Communication Culture at the University of Rostock. The event is being organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship (ZfE) in collaboration with the University of Rostock Service GmbH (URSG). Both organizations bring many years of experience in startup support, knowledge transfer, and networking, and serve as a bridge between academia, business, and society.
The University Medical Center Rostock (UMR) and the Faculty of Mechanical and Naval Engineering (MSF) are participating as co-organizers—including in the panel discussion, where they will share their perspectives on research transfer and collaboration.
