Winners of the 2017 “Inspired” Ideas Competition Announced

Numerous potential entrepreneurs once again submitted both exciting and innovative concepts for the ideas competition. Together with the sponsors and partners from the business and academic communities, the most creative business ideas and the most innovative research findings from students, alumni, and researchers at the University of Rostock and research institutes in the Rostock area were honored yesterday with attractive prizes totaling more than 10,000 EUR. These included special prizes in the fields of healthcare management, tourism, information technology, innovative products, and new media, each worth 1,000 EUR.

The Rostock-based project coordinators Kathrin Krüger-Borgwardt, Kati Wolfgramm, and Tino Arnhold from the University of Rostock’s Center for Entrepreneurship are very pleased with the particularly strong response this year: “We were particularly pleased with the breadth and variety of the ideas submitted. We wish all participants every success in bringing their ideas to life and are already looking forward to next year’s competition.”

Winners in the “Students” Category

With exceptional creativity and ingenuity, these teams from the University of Rostock impressed the jury in the “Students” category:

1st Place: Maik Getzkow with “Dosage Aids for Diabetics”

2nd place: Khaled Alhayek, Jannis Reuter, and Ghufran Khan with “SINCODSY”

3rd place: Kevin Bebensee, Vito Brabetz, Lasse Florek, and David Rüffer with “Teasy – Create. Tea.Easy.”

Award Winners in the “Graduates & Researchers” Category

With impressive results from science and research, these teams stood out this year in the “Researchers & Graduates” category:

1st Place: Konstantin Altrichter, Karl Hartmann, and Paul Lückemann with DaisyGrip—the hygienic tourniquet

2nd Place: Johannes Höhn and Diana Enkelmann with “Coralaxy”

3rd place: Sakhi-Ahmad Noori and Steffen Rathmann with “VELearnMED”

The Award-Winning Ideas in the 2017 Special Categories

Special Award for Healthcare & Life Sciences

BioCon Valley MV e.V. is awarding 1,000 euros in the “Healthcare & Life Sciences” category. The team in the “Researchers & Graduates” category—consisting of Karl Hartmann, Konstantin Altrichter, and Paul Lückemann—impressed the judges with their idea, “DaisyGrip—the hygienic tourniquet.”

Special Award for Information Technology & App Development

In the “Information Technology & App Development” category, InnoMobile GmbH is sponsoring the special award worth 1,000 euros. Here, David Otto, Sebastian Magolz, and Daniel Schmidt impressed the judges with their fully automated, demand-optimized koi feeding system.

Special Award for Innovative Products

DS Produkte GmbH sponsors the “Innovative Products” special award, worth 1,000 euros, for the best product idea. This year, Maik Getzkow won the award with his idea “Dosing Aids for Diabetics—Measuring Spoons.”

Special Award for New Media

For the first time, a special award is being awarded in the field of new media and digital communication. The “New Media” special award, worth 1,000 euros and sponsored by FutureTV GmbH & Co. KG, was awarded to Sakhi-Ahmad Noori and Steffen Rathmann for their medical learning program “VELearnMED.”

Special Award for Tourism

A special award is also being presented in the field of tourism, sponsored by Rostocker Gesellschaft für Tourismus und Marketing mbH in the amount of 1,000 euros. The “Tourism” Special Award went to the student team of Tom Meyer and Tom Adnan Hobe for their recreational concept “VR Arcade,” which utilizes virtual reality (VR) technology.
