The winners of the 2019 Ideas Contest have been announced

On June 20, the most original business ideas and the most groundbreaking research results from the Rostock research area were awarded at the "inspired" ideas competition. The goal of the competition is to identify innovative technologies and ideas at the University of Rostock and at research institutions in the Rostock area, and to support them not only with financial resources but also with valuable contacts, intensive coaching, and valuable experience.

The finalists of the competition presented their ideas to a jury of entrepreneurs and scientists and then convinced the audience with a 30-second pitch full of creativity and originality.

The three winners from the "Students" and "Researchers & Graduates" categories will receive prize money and awards totaling 10,000 euros, donated by regional companies. These include special prizes in the categories of digital innovation and process optimization, health economy/life sciences, and innovative products, each worth 1,000 euros.

Award winners in the "Researchers & Graduates" category

With impressive results from science and research, these teams stood out this year in the “Researchers & Graduates” category:

1st Place: “Aspasia” – Florian Haake, Domenik Glöde, Leon Herrbruck, and Rick Kummerow

2nd Place: “Nucleus Cheeser System” – Maksym Kratko, Leon Sattler, and Christoph Junghans

3rd Place: “Gluco Weigh” – Maik Getzkow and Benedikt Stefan

1st Place in the “Researchers & Graduates” Category

Michael Meis, of Mecklenburgische Beteiligungsgesellschaft MV, presents the donated prize money to the winners in the “Researchers & Graduates” category: Florian Haake, Domenik Glöde, Leon Herrbruck, and Rick Kummerow. The prize is worth 2,000 EUR, sponsored by Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft M-V mbH.
“Nucleus Cheeser System” — Maksym Kratko, Leon Sattler, and Christoph Junghans won second place in the “Graduates & Researchers” category, a prize worth 1,000 EUR sponsored by the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The award was presented by Rector Prof. Dr. Schareck and Peter Volkmann of the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Maik Getzkow and Benedikt Stefan won third place in the “Graduates & Researchers” category for their idea “Gluco Weigh,” along with a prize of 500 EUR, sponsored by Genius Venture Capital GmbH and presented by Martin Schwarz.

With exceptional creativity and ingenuity, these teams from the University of Rostock impressed the jury members in the “Students” category:

1st Place: “Nordwurm” – Christian Baudisch, Raijana Schiemann, and Ahmed Hussein

2nd Place: “Näpie” – Janek Ziehmann, Sarah Schauer, Eric Braun, Ahmad Musallam, and Leonie Hartmann

3rd place: “Düpre® Soaps” – Katherine Düpre and Dave Düpre

1. Platz Kategorie "Studierende"

The first award in the “Students” category will be presented by sponsor Christian Wegner of ETL Unternehmensberatung to students Christian Baudisch, Raijana Schiemann, and Ahmed Hussein. The award comes with a cash prize of 1,000 EUR.
Janek Ziehmann, Sarah Schauer, Eric Braun, Ahmad Musallam, and Leonie Hartmann won second place in the “Students” category for their idea “Näpie,” along with a prize of 500 EUR, presented by Peter Volkmann of the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
With his “Orientation Aid for the Blind,” Seyed Moghadam won third place in the ‘Students’ category, along with a prize of 250 EUR, sponsored by “Kaufmann & Kirner - mystery shopping and more GbR.”
Jury member Jan Klaiber spontaneously awarded a second third-place prize in the Student category to Katherine and Dave Düpre for their idea, “Düpre® Soaps.”

The Award-Winning Ideas in the 2019 Special Categories

Managing Director Andreas Wieczorke presented the special award for “Digital Innovation & Process Optimization,” sponsored by LIMES Solutions GmbH, to Fabian Nokodian for his “Helpchat” idea.

Special Award for Healthcare/Life Sciences

Martin & Sabine Adam from Rostock received the “Special Award for Healthcare,” sponsored by BioCon Valley Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.V., for their “Intelligent Care” concept.

Special Award for Digital Innovation & Process Optimization

Fabian Nokodian and Sam Moghadas won the “Digital Innovation & Process Optimization” Special Award, sponsored by LIMES Solutions GmbH, for their idea “Helpchat.”

Special Award for Innovative Products

The “Innovative Products” Special Award was presented for the best product idea. The winners were Martin & Sabine Adam for their idea “Intelligent Care.” The award is sponsored by DS Produkte GmbH.
