Start-up space

Start-up space

The start-up spaces are an early-stage incubator connected to the University of Rostock, in which particularly ambitious start-up projects from the UR environment are supported.

The start-up space is based on the idea of not only offering qualification, advice and support measures for founders, but also networking them. One of the main aims is to promote an entrepreneurial climate at the UR and at the same time give the start-up teams further access to the scientific and academic world.

The overarching goal is to test the respective business idea or research result for usability and to facilitate the transition from university education to starting a business.

Period of use

Period of use

The period of use depends on the achievement of milestones and the growth of the start-up project. Use is initially agreed for a period of 6 months. The continuation of the usage relationship depends on the fulfillment of the milestones individually defined for each project. The period of use is limited to a maximum of 12 months (extensions are possible via exceptions).

In general, however, as soon as the first sales are generated, the founder or team will move out of the start-up space.

Process?

  • You have a concrete start-up idea that you have worked out in writing (idea sketch).
  • After your idea has been examined and an in-depth discussion has taken place, you will qualify for temporary admission to the start-up rooms.
  • Additional milestones are defined at the beginning of the support, which are then presented in the form of interim reports and/or presentations at regular intervals.
  • A network of experts (professors, mentors, start-up consultants and transfer officers) is responsible for checking that the entry criteria have been met, selecting start-up projects and monitoring defined milestones within the incubation process.
