The workshop focuses on the systematic development of innovation projects for the “inspired” idea competition at the University of Rostock and beyond. The event centers on equipping participants with the methodological skills needed to present the required project description not only as a comprehensive piece of content but also at a scientifically sound level. Following the official outline guide, established business and innovation methodological frameworks will be presented and explained in their application for all eight core areas of the idea sketch—from the initial business idea through customer benefits to personal motivation.
Participants will gain an overview of tools such as the Business Model Canvas for structuring the value proposition, the Jobs-to-be-Done approach for clarifying customer needs, and the Technology Readiness Levels for objectively assessing the current stage of development. Additional focus will be placed on deriving a clear unique selling proposition using the Unique Value Proposition framework and classifying the level of innovation based on the Oslo Manual. Through the exemplary application of these models—such as in market potential analysis using TAM–SAM–SOM or a systematic risk assessment—the workshop demonstrates how the persuasiveness of a submission can be enhanced through precise technical language and logical chains of argumentation. Finally, participants will have the opportunity to critically evaluate individual aspects of their own concept sketch using the methods presented and to identify initial areas for optimization for the competition.
